2012 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe With M-Package

Recently we showed some fresh shots of BMW’s 6-Series Gran Coupe rival to the Mercedes CLS.  Now we have the car out and about wearing the M-Package.

How do we know it isn’t a M6 Gran Coupe?  Because it only has two exhausts, one either side, poking out from below the rear bumper; the M6 would have four (as you’ll see from our spy shots of the M6 Cabrio).  So we are looking at a standard model here, sporting the M-Package aero kit and wheel upgrade.

As we covered last week, engines are expected to be BMW’s six cylinder 3.0 litre diesel and petrol with 245bhp and 326bhp respectively, going up to the 4.4 V8 engine fitted to the 5, 6 and 7 which starts with 407bhp.  Like BMW is doing with the M6, could they fit the twin turbo 4.4 lite V8 from the new M5 to this car?  It could happen — the Gran Coupe is a sporting model after all and the AMG performance versions sell well in the Mercedes CLS body style.

In which case, take a good look at the above for clues as to how that model will look if/when it arrives.

Expect a formal debut of the standard Gran Coupe at the Frankfurt motor show in September, with it on sale in the UK in 2012 priced from 90,000 Euros (without M-Package).
